Castrol Molub-Alloy 908 SF Super Heavy Slide Lubricant is designed to lubricate the walking mechanism slides of Bucyrus International draglines. The lubricant has been formulated to meet Bucyrus specification X-2326, Suffix B. Excellent EP protection is achieved without the use of lead additives or any other hazardous material considered undesirable by environmental agencies in the management of waste.
Molub-Alloy 908 SF Super Heavy Slide Lubricant is formulated with a system of components that interact to provide maximum performance and protection. This formulation includes fluids, viscosity modifiers (thickeners), and a select combination of anti-seize and antiwear agents, including a proprietary blend of Castrol Molub-Alloy lubricating solids. The synergistic combination of ingredients offers maximum protection of the sliding mechanism.
Actual slide operating conditions were closely simulated during the development of Molub-Alloy 908 SF Super Heavy Slide Lubricant. Extreme loads and slow speeds were considered. The metallurgy of test specimens corresponded to actual slide components. Development criteria included temperature studies. Wear was also evaluated.
Applications: Molub-Alloy 908 SF Super Heavy Slide Lubricant is formulated for the specific use on Bucyrus International draglines designed with cam and slide walking mechanisms.
Advantages
Controls chatter and temperature rise
Pumps easily for economical dispensing with automatic equipment
Clings to surfaces, yet flows easily in troughs due to controlled thixotrophy (flow characteristics)
Resists separating and water washout between walks.
Molub-Alloy 908 SF Super Heavy Slide Lubricant resists excessive thinning with increase in ambient temperature. In use, when loads are heavy and shearing forces are low, 908 SF forms a thick film, still flows readily and offers little drag when pumped by lubrication dispensing equipment.
